Stepping Away...

I just wanted to write a quick note that I will be stepping away from the blog for awhile.  I have so many projects at hand that I simply cannot squeak out the time for blogging right now.  I do intend to come back, but at the moment I am not sure when that will be.  We do have many changes taking place in our daily life, so I will just say that I will have some fun news when I come back.

I will miss you all very much and hope that ya'll do not get into too much trouble while I am away!  Have a beautiful and glorious day!

Romantic Living: Preparedness

With Hurrican Sandy on the move, I thought it was only fitting to talk about preparedness this week.  This is a subject that far too few Americans take seriously and most of us have the means to at least do even a small amount of something to make a potential natural disaster a bit less nerve racking.  I believe that as a nation we need to start proving our intelligence and the majority is lacking greatly in that department.  We must stop living in a silly made up fairy tale where "nothing could ever happen to me..."  Simply put, things happen.

We so quickly forget our past in this unnatural fast food culture.  We are out of touch with natural phenomenon and somehow have forgotten that every well prepared insurance contract includes the clause, "or act of God," for a reason.  The reason is, no matter how technically motivated our nations become, there are things far beyond our control, and there always will be.  Hurricane Sandy is just one example.  Hurricane Katrina is another.

It's Friday!!!

Hello, hello!  How has your week been?  Mine has been incredibly busy!  Today and for the next few days we have some chilly weather (finally).  Chilly enough to pull out some winter clothes so that is what I did today.  I had the boys trying on pants and shirts from last year to see what still fits and if we need to purchase anything to fill in the gaps.  Amazingly enough they are both going to be fully covered and still looking nice and dapper.  I had enough larger clothes put away for my oldest that he has finally grown into.  That is exciting!  My own wardrobe is severely lacking however as most of my sweaters finally had to go away last year as I developed an allergy to synthetics (plastic fabric, yarns and fibers).  So...I am borrowing some of my husbands sweatshirts at the moment until I have budget to get what is needed for me.

Mustang Island, Texas

As promised, here are a few photographs from our short little excursion to the seaside.  We visited Mustang Island and really, just enjoyed the beach.  We needed to do some serious rest and relaxation so we did not do any sight seeing and chose just to enjoy the sound of the surf, and whatever nature chose to show us.  Our sons enjoyed playing on the beach, looking for shells, wading in the surf, and building sand castles.  We all got a bit sunburned as we lost track of time with the sunscreen, but all in all we got what we wanted, which was some rest.  Without further ado, here are the best photographs from our trip, enjoy!

It's Friday!!!

Yes, I have been gone a very long time, I know.  I actually did not plan to be gone at all, let alone this long, but life is, what it is...unpredictable and sometimes overly busy.  So, here I am with a small explanation of what has been happening as well as an explanation of why I may not be here regularly in the future.

Backyard Maze

"Just as treasures are uncovered from the earth, so virtue appears from good deeds, and wisdom appears from a pure and peaceful mind. To walk safely through the maze of human life, one needs the light of wisdom and the
 guidance of virtue. "
~Budda

A couple of decades ago, when I was in my teens, this was the pinnacle of fun.  Yes, a maze, it is made out of huge appliance cardboard boxes.  We had to go dumpster diving for months in order to get enough.  It took several weeks to build and then I invited the youth group over from church.  First we did a Murder Mystery Dinner Party and then, after dark, we did the maze.  It was much bigger than the photograph allows, taking up the entire backyard.  We had a blast!
